What to Expect at the Show
Harold Hill is a traveling salesman with a foolproof scheme: roll into River City, Iowa, convince the townspeople they need a boys’ band, sell them instruments and uniforms, then disappear with the cash before anyone figures out he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef.
But Marian the librarian isn’t falling for it. She sees right through him, and as Harold works his charm on the rest of the town, he finds himself in unfamiliar territory. Turns out the biggest risk to his con isn’t getting caught—it’s falling for someone who might actually make him want to stay.

The Songs You’ll Be Humming All Week
The Music Man is packed with hits. “Seventy-Six Trombones” is the big, rousing march that gets stuck in your head. “‘Til There Was You” is the romantic number that’s been covered by everyone from The Beatles to your cousin at karaoke night. “Ya Got Trouble” showcases Harold’s fast-talking sales pitch in all its ridiculous glory, and “Gary, Indiana” will make you nostalgic for a hometown you’ve never even been to.
These songs have been entertaining audiences since 1957, and they still work because they’re catchy, clever, and tied to characters you actually care about.

Why This Show Still Works
The Music Man has been around since 1957 and hasn’t lost its charm. It’s funny, the romance feels real, and the songs are genuinely good. This is the kind of show that works whether you’re taking your kids, going on a date, or just want a solid night at the theater.
Walton Arts Center is running four performances this January, so grab your tickets and get ready for a night of music, laughs, and a love story that sneaks up on you.
