The Story Behind the Fence
In 1950s Pittsburgh, you meet Troy Maxson, a former Negro League baseball star whose instinct to protect his family runs headfirst into his son’s own ambitions. The play is one of the most decorated works in the American theater canon, and it earned both the Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award for its portrait of love, responsibility, and a father and son who want different things from the same fence.
