Matchbook Memoir Turns Tiny Books Into Community Art
Grab a matchbook-sized stack of paper and a handful of paint, and you have got the makings of a memoir. The Medium in Springdale is opening its doors for a free, all-ages craft event built around miniature accordion books, and you are invited to fill the pages with whatever story you feel like telling.

What You Will Be Making
You will build your own miniature accordion book from scratch, then fill it with personal narratives, story maps, ink, paint, and collage. There is no set theme or right answer here. One person’s book might trace a childhood memory. The next table over might be mapping their neighborhood, or just layering color until something clicks.

Add Your Spark to the Collective Piece
Beyond your own book, you can contribute a page to a large-scale accordion book collaboration happening throughout the day. Every addition becomes part of one shared piece built by everyone who stops by.

Take It Home, Then Take It Further
Materials go home with you, and organizers are encouraging participants to host their own Matchbook Memoir sessions in their own circles. Teach a friend, run one at a family gathering, or just keep making books on your own time.

Behind the Project
Matchbook Memoir is supported by the Creative Exchange Fund at The Medium, a program that gives artists, creatives, and cultural organizers funding and free space to experiment.

Stop by The Medium on July 18 and make a book of your own. For updates on this event and future open studio days, follow the Matchbook Memoir Project on Instagram.
