Friends of the YRCC Throws a Block Party for the Community Center’s 30th

The Yvonne Richardson Community Center is turning 30, and Friends of the YRCC is throwing a block party to mark the occasion right outside the center’s doors.

Food, Games, and a Live DJ

You can grab a free plate at the block party. A live DJ keeps the music going, and there’s plenty to keep kids busy too. You’ll find face painting, inflatables, and games waiting for you and your crew. You can eat, play, and mingle with neighbors without spending a dime.

Parking Made Easy

Street closures mean you won’t be able to park at the Community Center itself, so plan to park at Comb Street Church of Christ instead. It’s a short 0.3 mile walk from the church lot to the center if you’re up for it. If walking isn’t your thing, a shuttle van runs every 15 to 20 minutes starting at 5:30 PM to get you there, and the return shuttle runs on the same schedule from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.

The Board Behind the Center

You can thank the Friends of the YRCC board for keeping the center running behind the scenes. The City of Fayetteville owns and operates the building, but the board works independently to support, promote, and fund it. Established in 1995 as a 501(c)(3), the board fundraises, advocates, and builds partnerships behind the center’s mission of shaping youth through recreational, educational, and social opportunities. When you walk through the doors, you’re stepping into a space the City handles for daily operations, while Friends of the YRCC handles the support system behind it.
