Five Events, One Grass Stained Crown
You’ll watch competitors run all five events in a single day, judged on speed, precision, cleanliness, and execution. The Zero Turn Obstacle Course tests how well an operator can handle a mower through a tight, timed layout. Up next, the Weed Eater String Challenge puts trimmer prep on the clock, scoring how fast and how properly a competitor can string and set up their machine. Aim matters just as much as speed in the Blower Accuracy Challenge, where operators try to hit specific targets under pressure. Then the field moves to the Push Mow Obstacle Course, a technical run through tight boundaries and sharp turns. The day wraps with the marquee event, The Scythe Challenge, a manual cutting contest that tests endurance, technique, and form. As the organizers put it, it’s the oldest tool and the truest test.

No Trailer Required
You won’t need to load up a truck bed to take part. Every machine and tool waits on-site, so you can check in, walk the field, and get familiar with the gear before heats begin. Pack a lawn chair or blanket, since seating isn’t provided, and expect the competition to run rain or shine. Mayor Molly Rawn, Dr. John Colbert, and a panel of civic leaders judge the field, so you’re watching more than a backyard rivalry play out. Cameras roll on every pass from the first horn to the final rotation.

Cutting Grass for a Good Cause
New Beginnings, the host site, works to end chronic homelessness in Fayetteville through a resident-led neighborhood of cabins. Residents stay there while they work toward permanent housing, with support from a life skills coach, a housing coach, and overnight staff. The property also includes A Place to Heal, a medical respite program for people recovering after hospital stays. Separate neighborhoods on-site provide permanent supportive housing and rent assistance. When you show up for the Lawn Care Olympics, you’re standing on the same ground where that work happens every day.

Grab a lawn chair or grab a trimmer of your own. Either way, you get to watch Northwest Arkansas crown its first-ever Grand Champion, with gold and silver handed out across every event on the field that day.
