Ozark Euro Rally Fills Eureka Springs With German Engines

If you love German-made cars, Eureka Springs is where you want to be at the end of August. The Ozark Euro Rally fills the hills with engines revving and owners swapping stories, more interested in timing belts than trophies. You won’t find judging or classes here, just you, your car, and a few hundred people who get why you love it.

Friday Starts With a Pre-Meet at Osage Creek Lodge

Your weekend starts Friday, August 28, with a pre-meet at Osage Creek Lodge from 6 to 8 PM, open to everyone, not just registered drivers. If you pre-registered, this is where you pick up your goodie bag and event shirt. Organizers say to stay tuned for hotel discounts and more Friday night pre-party details, so keep an eye on the Ozark Euro Rally Facebook page as the date gets closer.

Saturday Brings the Cars to the Great Passion Play

Parking opens at 7 AM Saturday. This is a German-makes-only show, so expect a hillside full of Volkswagens, BMWs, Audis, Porsches, Mercedes and Opels. If you’re bringing a car, hug the left side coming in and watch for the wooden trailhead marking the ground entrance. If you’re spectating, park in the paved lot on the far right, with overflow parking near the statue. If you pre-registered, grab your goodie bag at the main tent. Walk-up merch purchases open at 8 AM once staff finishes setting up.

Get there early and you can grab breakfast from Catered Creations, with biscuits and gravy, breakfast burritos or loaded breakfast bowls, before they switch over to lunch. Silly Squeezers is pouring lemonade, and if you need a scoop, Hugs Chef-Inspired Ice Cream will have their truck, Buzz, parked on-site.

At 2:30 PM, follow the cars downtown for a VW parade through Eureka Springs, wrapping up around 3:30 PM.

Register Online, Because There’s No Registering at the Door

Only the first 250 pre-registered cars get a free goodie bag with the event shirt included. Register after that cutoff and you can still add a shirt or other merch during registration, at a price lower than what you’d pay walking up the day of the show. What you won’t find is same-day registration for your vehicle, so if you want your car in the show, register online beforehand at the link above. If you’re just coming to look, you don’t need to register at all.

What to Know Before You Go

Eureka Springs in late August runs hot, so bring your own shade. If you’re setting up a tent, keep it along the tree lines and stake or weight it down, since the ground is rocky. Keep your gear clear of the bike trail that runs through the property.

Bring your own cooler and outside food if you’d like, and you’ll also find drinks under the main tent along with food trucks and lemonade on-site. Leave the alcohol, drugs and grill at home, none of that is allowed on the grounds. Bring your leashed dog or cat if you want the company, just clean up after them. The show sits on grass, but watch your step on the surrounding pavement, it gets hot in the sun.

Since the show sits on active Great Passion Play property, skip the burnouts, peel-outs, revving, two-step and loud music, and watch your speed. Expect a trolley and regular visitor traffic moving through the area all day. One more thing before you drive in: Eureka Springs doesn’t sell 93 or E85 octane fuel, so plan ahead if your car needs it. Your closest options are in Rogers or Springdale, about 30 to 40 minutes away.

Sunday Winds Down With Cars and Coffee

Wrap up your weekend Sunday, August 30, with a Cars and Coffee breakfast buffet at Basecamp Event Venue starting at 9 AM, a lower-key way to close things out.
