A Moderate Trail With a Few Stairs to Keep You Honest

This 1.5-mile trail is rated moderate, so it’s not a stroll, but it’s not a slog either. There are some stairs and elevation gain along the way.

Learn Why Hobbs Burns Its Own Forest

Prescribed fire sounds counterintuitive until you see what it does. Along this stretch of trail, you can watch how flora competes for sunlight in a prescribed burn area, a small window into how fire management plays out across Hobbs. You’ll also pick up some history along the way, including the story of Solomon Shaddox, the early settler the hollow is named for, plus views of limestone bluffs and glades overlooking the Beaver Lake shoreline.
