Dickson Street Is Shutting Down for a Mile Race

The Dickson Street Mile is back this July, and if you’ve never been, the atmosphere alone is worth the early wake-up call. Dickson Street shuts down, the crowd shows up, and for a few hours on a Saturday morning, the street belongs to the runners.

Pick Your Heat

The Open Mile is the main event and it is open to all ages and all speeds. Run, jog, walk, roll, or stroll. No pace requirements, no pressure. If you’re bringing the kids, the Kids Mile is built for ages 13 and under, and the Competitive Teen Mile is for ages 14–18 who are ready to push a serious pace (sub-6:00 for boys, sub-6:30 for girls). Parents who want to run alongside a young child in the Recreational Youth 1 Mile can add a Parent Run Partner registration for $5. This add-on does not include a t-shirt or timing chip.

Competitive adults (19+) can enter the Competitive Adult Mile, which holds the same pace standards. The Elite Men’s and Elite Women’s Miles are limited in size and require proof of a qualifying time at registration. The Elite Men’s targets a 4:30 mile and under; the Elite Women’s targets 5:00–5:10 and under.

Heats for the Heroes and the 50+ Runners

The Heroes Mile is its own category for military members, veterans, first responders, police, and fire personnel. Participants can run as-is or add a ruck pack and turnout gear for a bigger challenge.

The Dog Mile is open to humans running with their dog. Leash or harness required. Dog Mile participants also receive a dog bandana.
