Skip the Restaurant and Hit the Trail This Valentine’s Day

Forget the prix fixe menus and crowded dining rooms this Valentine’s Day. 37 North Adventures is hosting a nine-hour outdoor adventure at Sam’s Throne that combines hiking, stargazing, and campfire dining.

The Trail to Sunset

Your 37 North guide leads the 3-mile hike past a cave, springs, and bluffs, timing it so you reach the Sam’s Throne overlook right at sunset. Once you’ve soaked in the views, you’ll head back to camp where NWA Space has telescopes waiting.

Stars, Telescopes, and Campfire Cooking

NWA Space brings professional telescopes to view planets, galaxies, and stars. Their guides answer questions about the night sky while a 37 North guide cooks dinner over the campfire. Dessert is s’mores.

The experience fits first-time hikers ready for a challenge, families after something different, or seasoned hikers looking for a more laid-back adventure.

The experience includes transportation, your guide, star viewing equipment, and dinner. Pack water, snacks, a light blanket for stargazing, warm layers, and hiking boots. Bring a camera if you want to capture the views. At least 7 participants are needed for the trip to run.

The Timeline

Meet at The HUB by 12:30 PM. The hike starts at 4:00 PM, timed to reach the overlook before sunset. By 6:00 PM, you’re back at camp for stargazing. Dinner is served at 7:00 PM, and you’ll return to NWA by 10:30 PM.

This adventure beats the usual dinner-and-a-movie routine. Pack your warmest layers and bring your curiosity about the universe.
