A Husband-and-Wife Duo That Won’t Stay in One Lane

Michael and Tanya Trotter have risen from industry favorites to internationally acclaimed performers. Their live shows are known for being electrifying, and they defy categorization. Look at the nominations and honors from the Academy of Country Music, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry, and the Grammy Awards and you will see their talent across genres.

They are the first Black duo nominated for a Country Music Award and the first to perform at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. They also performed a tribute to Lauryn Hill at the 2026 BET Award.

A New Album With Guest Collaborators

You will hear music from The Story of Michael and Tanya. Collaborators on the album include Whoopi Goldberg, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Wynonna Judd, and Valerie June.

Their latest work also seeks to expand an idea from Ray Charles, that the best music exists in the tension between sacred sounds and secular desires. “For Michael and me, it’s important to show the combination of rawness and sweetness that underlies our soulful sound,” Tanya said.

A Preview From America’s Got Talent

The duo appeared on America’s Got Talent at the end of August and shared a sneak peek of what you can expect. They performed the title track from their EP Country Baptism and the previously released “It’ll Hurt Me More Than It’ll Hurt You.”

Words That Balance Emotions

Twelve years after their founding, the Trotters’ combined musical and emotional intelligence gives you new songs that address the world’s complexities gently but firmly. “The power of language is that it can peacefully balance emotions,” Tanya said.

Come hear the duo open their fall concert tour and be in the room for it.
