Wild Ones Is Taking Fayetteville Gardeners Inside a Real Rain Garden
Most yards shed rainwater straight into the street. A rain garden keeps it where it lands, and Wild Ones – Ozark Chapter is hosting the Native Garden Tour: Residential Rain Garden to show you exactly how that works.

Dirt, Roots, and Real Results
The tour walks through a working residential rain garden built to capture and filter stormwater runoff using native plants suited to this region. You’ll see how the garden was planned, built, and maintained, with a hands-on look at soil preparation, grading, and plant selection for species that handle both wet and dry cycles.

The tour also covers how the garden slows water flow, reduces erosion, and filters runoff before it leaves the property. The plantings support pollinators and birds, so the work benefits your yard and the wider watershed.
Bring It Back to Your Yard
The guides will walk you through sizing, placement, and water infiltration techniques you can apply to your own yard. You’ll leave with a clear picture of what a home installation actually involves, from the first shovel to seasonal care.
