Dig Into the Unknown Ozarks at the Fayetteville Public Library
Every hollow in the Ozarks comes with a story attached, and somewhere in your family tree, someone has told one of them with a straight face. On Saturday, November 14, Ozark folklorist and author Brandon Weston comes to the Fayetteville Public Library to dig up what’s actually buried under those legends.

Nearly Twenty Years in the Hills and Hollers
Weston has spent almost two decades preserving Ozark folk traditions and passing them down to the next generation. That’s no tall tale. This talk is his story of that work, following his journey to document and explain the magical mysteries of the hills and hollers from the very beginning. The payoff? You find out what truth inspired the folklore you grew up hearing.
Where Fairytale Meets Memory
Along the way, Weston has worked with Ozark healers and storytellers. That work breaks through the wall between fairytale and memory, and between academic study and lived truth. Got a family legend of your own? Bring it to mind and see how it holds up against what Weston has documented.
Can’t make it to Mountain Street? The talk streams live on the library’s YouTube channel. Want a nudge so you don’t forget? Add it to your calendar here.
See you there, NWA.
