A young man with nothing left to lose jumps a moving train and lands in the middle of a traveling circus. That’s the premise of Water for Elephants, the Broadway musical coming to Baum Walker Hall at Walton Arts Center, and it’s a story that hits harder than you’d think.

Under the Big Top
The story follows a young man who loses everything and finds an unlikely home with the crew of a traveling circus, along with a love he never saw coming. Told through the eyes of his older self, it’s about starting over and choosing to live fully, at any age.
Tony Award®-nominated director Jessica Stone helms the production, with a book by three-time Tony nominee Rick Elice and a score by PigPen Theatre Co. The New York Times calls it “stunning, emotional, heart-filled and gorgeously imaginative,” and Variety describes it as “spellbinding entertainment.” The show is recommended for ages 8 and up.

The cocktail class add-on is worth building your evening around. You’ll learn to mix two specialty cocktails crafted by local mixologists, snack on light appetizers from Fire and Lightning Catering, and leave with the recipes, good memories, and new people to share them with.
If you have show tickets, the class is timed so you’re in your seat before the theater lights dim. No show ticket? You can still come for a hands-on experience. Must be 21 or older to participate.
